Madiran invented modern micro-oxygenation in part to civilize Tannat. Traditional bottles still need years. Uruguay — especially Canelones — makes a friendlier, coastal Tannat that can be drunk with dinner this week.
If you like Aglianico and young Cabernet, this is your grape. Protein is not optional.
