Vermentino and cannonau

An island with its own grapes and a Spanish memory: Vermentino di Gallura, Cannonau (Grenache), Carignano del Sulcis, and long-lived Vernaccia di Oristano.
- thyme
- citrus
- raspberry
- myrtle
- saline
Gallura's granite Vermentino can be one of Italy's most complete Mediterranean whites. Cannonau is Grenache, often from old bush vines, more savory than Châteauneuf. Carignano on sand in Sulcis is a sleeper red.
The island drinks like itself: myrtle, herbs, and the sea.
Porceddu, bottarga, pecorino sardo, and myrtle-scented roasts.
