Riesling, but riper than the Mosel; also Spätburgunder, Pinot Blanc, and a Mediterranean vegetable garden along the Haardt.

The Pfalz is warmer and drier than the Mosel. Dry Grosses Gewächs Riesling here is fuller, peachier, still precise. Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder) is a German success story.

If Mosel is feathers, Pfalz is linen. Both are Riesling. You need both.

Sausages, pork, Asian spice, and mild cheeses.
