Grower Champagne

The farmer on the label

Récoltant-manipulant: the same person grows the grapes and makes the wine. A terroir conversation that used to be reserved for Burgundy.

RM on the label is the clue (NM is a négociant house, CM a co-op). Grower bottles often come from a village or a few plots, with less blending across the region, so vintage and site show. Quality ranges from revelatory to rustic.
Houses still make some of the world's greatest Champagne. Grower is not a moral upgrade; it is a different grain of attention. Both belong on a serious list.
Oysters, fried chicken, and the start of a meal. Tulip glass.
