Natural cork, technical cork, Diam, screwcap, glass stopper. Each is a bet on oxygen, TCA risk, and tradition.

Natural cork can be great and can be corked. Screwcaps (especially for whites and aromatic wines) have won most of the technical argument in Australia and New Zealand. Diam and other technical corks aim for cork ritual with lower TCA. Glass stoppers are rare and expensive.

Screwcap is not a quality tell either way. A grand Riesling under Stelvin can outlive a corked Burgundy. Store screwcaps on their side or standing; it does not matter the way it does for cork.

The best closure is the one that delivers the wine the grower meant.
