The Redland

The Redland

Fruit, not grapes

What should I drink from here?
Vineyard landscape
Vineyard landscape

The farmland south of Miami. Avocados, lychee, mango, guava — and a winery that ferments them.

The Redland is the southernmost agricultural corner of the continental United States. The fruit is tropical. The wine is made from that fruit, not from Vitis vinifera.

Schnebly Redland's Winery, on SW 217th Avenue in Homestead, is the room. Lychee, mango, guava, passion fruit, starfruit, and an avocado wine. Some are sweet. Ask for the drier pour before you start.

It is an hour south of Miami when the road is kind, and longer on a weekend. One stop. Do not expect Napa.

At the table
