Bannockburn, Gibbston, Cromwell, Wanaka: subregions with real differences of altitude and frost risk. The wines are darker and more succulent than Willamette, with a wild-herb note.

Riesling and Pinot Gris are excellent and under-ordered. Pinot is the reason people come.

Duck, lamb, and mushroom.
